Are you where you want to be in your life? Do you love your life? Can you name 10 things you’re grateful for?
You don’t have to answer yes to all of these, because it can be hard, especially if you’re in a tough season.
I will say firsthand that I am so in love with my life. Of course not every moment is amazing, but overall, I couldn’t ask for a better life. My blog may come across as negative or “venty” (nope not a word but makes me wants Starbucks), but I feel as if this is a safe space to write my feelings and I hope that mamas out there don’t feel alone. I know I don’t have a million visitors to my page, but I like to express my emotions through writing and I hope one person will read this and feel empowered and that you’re not alone.
So here goes my grateful list (at least for today).
1.) I have a small family in retrospect. I have a husband, 2 toddlers, a dog, my mom and dad, and my brother lives in Myrtle Beach. My husband has his mom dad, sister and brother. I am so grateful for my family. All of them. I am so lucky to have such a good relationship with my parents. My dad is my best friend. He knows everything and he is ALWAYS there- million skies dad.
2.) I am so grateful for my past experiences- broken heart and all. It has shaped me into the person I am today.
3.) My health! It hasn’t come easy for me. I used to be drowning in anxiety (refer to number 2- broken heart because I love too much). I was on Wellbutrin, celexa, lexapro, Toprol for tachycardia, clonipin prn, an inhaler for asthma, (not all at once) the list goes on. I was a cheerleader for most of my life and after I graduated with my masters I went downhill, drowned in anxiety, and gained about 20 lbs. I’m in control of my health and it took me awhile to understand that. Once I won my health back, I discovered running and became addicted. I’m so grateful that I have replaced meds with running.
4.) Honestly, this one should have been first. I am sooooooo undeniably grateful for my 2 babies. They made me a mom and even though this gig is hard as hell, I wouldn’t trade it for the world, even on those really really hard days. They love me unconditionally, at my worst, when I’m crying or yelling, when I’m happy and patient… and everything in between. Thank you God for choosing me to be their mama. (Now time to slow time down, thanks!)
5.) My job- God paved the way for me on this one. I may not see progress everyday or get to practice every part of being a teacher, but my kids, the toughest of the toughest, need love the most and that I can give. I see them. I see their parents. I love my job.
6.) My friends- it’s funny because I grew up always wanting to have the same friends through high school, college, life. It’s actually the opposite now. I have one Best friend from each part of my life. And I’ll tell you this, I don’t have tons of friends, but I have a few unbelievable, amazing, always there for me, never have to talk and live far away but we just get each other kind of friends. I am so thankful for all of you- new and old.
7.) My mindset. When I set goals, I smash them. The end. No tooting my horn over here. I actually have some borderline ocd that I can joke around about because once I set a goal, big or small, I won’t let myself give up.
8.) Zumba!!!!! I’ve been teaching for 8 years and I’d be lost without it. I have made so many friends over the years and it’s the best outlet. When I’m dancing, the rest of the world stops.
9.) My house. It’s cozy and it’s our house.
10.) My heart. I am most proud of my heart. I am thankful for my heart. I am about as sensitive as they come. I’m also an empath so I feel every energy. It’s overwhelming at times, but I am thankful to feel all these emotions.
Coming up with 10 things is harder than you think, but not in a bad way. Just a make you think deeply kinda way.
